Child Nutrition and Obesity
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Milos_Pesic]Milos Pesic

Nutrition is essential in achieving and maintaining good health. Obesity on the other hand has cased million of children around the globe to live unhealthy lives. Child nutrition and obesity stand from two opposing corners. Child nutrition is essential in keeping the kid healthy, while obesity threatens the health condition of a child. Child nutrition and obesity are two concerns that parents should not take for granted. Child nutrition should take top priorities among households to keep obesity at bay.

Parents view on nutrition is lacking and sometimes distorted. The inability of parents to put nutritious food on the table has aggravated the vulnerability of their children to becoming obese. Media is also a competing factor in providing the right information on nutrition. Television advertisements show conflicting messages. While some may reinforce the value of nutritious food, others have done the opposite.

Nutritionist and medical scientists have been digging all possible answers to shed light on issues regarding child nutrition and obesity. Milk that is enriched with vitamin supplement has flooded the grocery racks. Food snacks have become vitaminized to compensate the needed nutrient intake of children. Junk foods are no longer called as such. In the same manner, cold cuts sold in different supermarkets now contain vitamins. All these and more were made to respond to the growing inadequacy of the nutrient intake of kids.

Diet programs are now a commonplace. More parents are now becoming conscious of their child’s health and the ill effects of obesity. They watch the food that their kids ingest. They also see to it that their kids eat a balanced diet and the appropriate time. Parents are now more aware that eating too much food high in calories is not helpful and healthy at all.

Nutrition cannot stand alone in achieving the ideal weight vis-à-vis height and age of a child. Frequent physical activities also help in preventing obesity from occurring. Time spent on watching television shows show be minimized so the child can enjoy more the benefit of recreational activities.

More than anything else family support is still the key to the child’s optimum nutrition. Parents can help their children by acting as positive role models in having a healthy life. The road to eradicating obesity is long and tedious, but with the support of significant others, it can be done. Child nutrition and obesity information will continue to fill books, the internet and health talk shows to provide better information that the people should know.

Children and Nutrition
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mary_Mason-Shields]Mary Mason-Shields

In the fight for prevention of child obesity, our children must be taught about nutrition. Parents know that the day will come when their child will “leave the nest,” so it would be wise to teach the child all there is to know about nutrition.

This will give the child a foundation and a basic knowledge of what is good for their body and what will keep their body functioning for them. With all the television advertisements targeting children, makes it imperative to teach children about nutrition before they ask for the junk foods from these ads. The advertising industry preys on the children’s love of junk foods. This is partly what keeps them in business.

Children watching cartoons on Saturday morning are inundated with food commercials. Most of these commercials are advertising the fruity and sweet cereals and the new and improved candies and cookies. Oh yes, the media knows when to infiltrate your child’s mind. They know all children will be watching their favorite Saturday morning cartoon. Lest not forget about what the media does to our children during the holidays.

Just about all of the food advertisements are geared toward children and the majority of them contain some form of sugar content. Whether it is candies, cookies, sugar-sweetened cereal, or sugar-sweetened drinks, it is clouding your child’s mind with unhealthy food choices. Those ads that are not depicting the sugar-loaded products are most assuredly advertising other unhealthy staples such as the foods loaded with carbohydrates and grease. Let’s get our children’s minds on eating fruits and vegetables by teaching them the nutritional values in foods.

If you train a child early enough and stay consistent and focused on health and nutrition, you will give them the basics for food choices in their later years. Don’t be afraid to let your children know what the risks are in consuming a lot of sugar-loaded staples. Don’t be afraid to let them know the health risks associated with some of their food choices. Remember, parents should be their children’s first teacher. Start early enough and your teachings will help your children when they depart from you.

Proper Child Nutrition and Obesity: Aiding the Fight Against Obesity
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Milos_Pesic]Milos Pesic

Obesity incidences among American children have dangerously climbed from 5% in the 1980’s to 15.3% in 2000. Studies reveal that childhood obesity is likely to continue on to adulthood which translates into higher risks of obesity related diseases.

While many diet programs, exercises and drug therapy combat obesity with much needed fierce commitment, some fight child obesity at beginning with prevention. There is a marked connection with child nutrition and obesity.

If the factors concerning the prevalence of obesity are to be studied separately, the primary concern would be food and nutrition. Obesity partially relies on the nutritive factor of a subject’s food intake. A child requires a chunk load of nutrition as it grows but are we truly giving them what they need? Again it must be made aware that child nutrition and obesity are related in such a way that poor nutrition leads to obesity.

The concern of child nutrition and obesity originates from excessive eating and no or minimum exercise. Most of the excess food eaten by kids or even adults are the famed high- calorie and high-fat foods that no matter how dangerous they are to our health, they’re still there. To begin a good fight against child obesity, we must be armed with the right nutrition for children. Remember that growing kid require a good amount of energy from a well balanced diet. The basics of the food groups now prevails. Child nutrition must consist of fiber, vitamins and mineral content, carbohydrates and protein. High fiber is best sourced from whole wheat and other grains. This is also very important to an overweight or obese child. This type requires a good bulk of fiber in his/her system to help lose the excess weight. A child’s nutrition is never complete without the 5-times-a-day serving of fruit and a similar serving of vegetables accompanied by dairy products, fish and the occasional red meat. If you now recall your old health class lectures, this is the basic nutrition required to maintain a healthy body. we are simply returning to a tweaked version of the basic nutrition requirements. an overweight or obese child’s nutrition also require a low-carbohydrate and low-fat intake. Remember that the excess calories and fat are major contributors to obesity. Also increase the amount of antioxidants that help flush out what needs to come out.

You should be able to determine what lacked in the child’s nutrition before the diet. Once you know them and realize the impact of child nutrition and obesity, you’ll be able to provide a child’s proper nutrition. Lessen what isn’t necessary and increase what is needed. This may be a small piece of the puzzle but it generates significant changes in the battle between child nutrition and obesity.

ADD and Nutrition
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alison_Cole]Alison Cole

Attention deficit disorder (ADD) can be battled from many directions. Drugs, behavior modification, nutrition, and exercise are among the various means with which professionals combat ADD in children. Good nutrition is a vital part of children's health, whether they have ADD or not. But in a child with ADD, proper nutrition is critical. In the initial stages of ADD, taking nutritional supplements is an alternative to treatment.

A low blood sugar level (glucose level) is one of the main causes of ADD in children. This condition makes children drowsy in class and restless when they are bored. Children with glucose deficiencies suffer a shorter inattentive phase. You can maintain your child's blood sugar level by making glucose part of his breakfast, the most important meal of the day as far as children are concerned.

For an ADD child, vitamin B is important as it helps to free the energy in glucose. A deficiency of vitamin B in the diet makes a child aggressive and depressed. A child may not get all varieties of vitamin B (there are 12 essential parts to vitamin B) from his normal diet. A good multivitamin capsule can be used to supplement normal food. Cereal is also a good source of vitamin B. Iron is an essential mineral as it helps in transporting oxygen to the cells (primarily, brain cells) through the blood system. Iron deficiency leads to anemia. Folic acid is essential for the formation of red and white blood cells. Without the proper amount of folic acid in the body, a child feels tired, irritable, and forgetful. Folic acid is obtained from vegetables and fruits. Zinc deficiencies also cause ADD symptoms. A lack of a sufficient amount of zinc makes a child feel dizzy and depressed. Cereals and peanuts are good sources of zinc.

Attention Deficit Disorder provides detailed information on Attention Deficit Disorder, Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder Tests and more. Attention Deficit Disorder is affiliated with Children with ADHD.

Healthy Nutrition for Children
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Gibb]John Gibb

When growing up, it’s important to have healthy nutrition for children. Since their bodies are in a state of constant growth, a lack of vitamins and minerals can result in poor growth processes and problems later in life. It is important for your child to eat a variety of healthy foods, balance the food they eat with regular physical activity, and choose a diet with the right nutrients.

For instance, a child’s growing body requires high levels of calcium and iron, sometimes even more than adults. Iron is crucial to a child’s development since it is used in developing strong muscles and producing blood, while calcium helps bones and teeth grow strong. These substances can be found in various foods, but it can be more helpful to get your children a supplement to help aid these needs.

Children of schooling age require around 1600 to 2400 calories per day, depending on their age and activity level. Once the growth spurt occurs, girls tend to require an additional 200 calories per day and boys need an extra 500 calories. No more than 30% of your child’s diet should come from fats. To maintain healthy nutrition for children, this can help to prevent obesity and other health problems. It is also important for your child to get a daily variety of vegetables. Requiring two to four servings of vegetables per day, children can meet these guidelines by eating such vegetables as salad greens and legumes. These vegetables contain nutrients key to a child’s development.

Children should also have 2-4 servings of fruit per day, and 6 to 11 servings of bread, cereal, rice or pasta. 2 to 3 servings of meat, beans, or nuts per day are also key to help a child develop properly. Following these steps, healthy nutrition for children can be a breeze. Just be sure to get all their daily requirements covered and your child will thank you later.

Breakfast and Tiffin Idea for Children
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Hitu_Mehotra]Hitu Mehotra

What can be most crucial agenda of every mother in every morning?

The healthy nutritious diet for her children. Most intelligent and aware parents today are overwhelmed by nutritional information available from different sources and worry a lot about what their children eat?

Don’t make any boundary that he or she should eat less fatty food or less sugar, just because of they become fatty or obese. Junk foods like pizza, burger etc makes child obese. Most parent fall into the trap of counting calories. It’s not just impotent to have the requisite amount of calories, but also the requisite amount of nutrients. Calories coming from the wrong food like burger, ice cream does not make sense, it only make fat and cholesterol in your body.

Mother’s main emphasis should be on, to promote healthy nutrition in children. The basic premise is that the children should eat variety of food. The food that contains lot of fats, oil and sweets should be used very sparingly.

You should choose diet with plenty of grains products, vegetables and fruits, ensuring the adequate amount of iron and calcium.

If some guidelines followed by your family members in house, then children has to follow it. You should also buy low-calorie, low-fat food, snakes and desert, low fat or skimed milk and diet drinks.

Your child’s nutrition is important for his overall growth and health. Proper nutrition can also prevent many medical problems, including becoming over weight, weak bones etc. Unfortunately we don’t realize that healthy eating habit and options need to be included at this age itself to last lifelong.

Nutrition for Kids: How to Teach Your Children About Healthy Eating
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_Scaccia,_MD]Michael Scaccia, MD

You realize that nutrition for kids is important, but you’re not sure how to teach your child to make better food choices.

Now what?

Here are a few suggestions to help educate your child about nutrition and how it relates to their overall health:

Learn more about nutrition yourself.

You can’t teach what you don’t know yourself. Find a quality resource from a qualified and experienced professional that can show you in easy-to-understand language how to use nutrition and fitness to help your family live happier and healthier.

==>Start with a preferred foods list.

Write down a list of all of the foods that your child likes. Then take that list and divide it into foods that are better for them, and foods that are not so good. Post the list on the refrigerator as a reminder to you and your child to choose more of the foods that are better, and less of the foods that are not as healthy.

==>Talk about the consequences of poor nutrition in age-appropriate terms.

Explain the benefits in terms that they can relate to and understand. You can tell kids that obesity will lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer, but that probably won’t mean much to them today. Tell them that they can feel better about themselves, climb stairs without getting out of breath, and play longer, harder, and better.

==>Start to read labels together.

They don’t have to understand all of the information on a label, but getting them in the habit of looking at every label they see, and simply comparing calories will help get them thinking about nutrition.

The Relationship of Nutrition and Dental Health
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_El_Massry]Peter El Massry

The relationship of nutrition and dental health is a topic that young children are often rudely initiated in by the parents the world over. How many children have often been admonished by careful parents not too eat too many candies, sweets, snacks, and carbonated drinks. This age old story is probably repeated countless times the world over.

In analyzing the relationship of nutrition and dental health from a historical perspective it is obvious that dental health in the United States (and elsewhere) has improved over the last 4 decades. However, dental caries are still a significant health problem for specific groups within the population - not surprisingly children and adolescents.

While sugar is often the focus of any discussion regarding the relationship of nutrition and dental health, other causal factors contribute to poor oral health. One often overlooked factor is the deleterious acidity found in carbonated drinks consumed far too often today. Although people often decry the levels of sugar in sodas, fruit drinks, and other carbonated drinks, the acidity of these drinks is a source of real concern. The acidity of popular drinks overtime has been scientifically proven to dissolve the enamel of the tooth directly. In fact recent publications in dental health journals have demonstrated that the phosphoric acid in many of these drinks is nearly as acidic as battery acid!

The relationship of nutrition and dental health is obvious as illustrated by the examples above. While nutrition can have a negative effect of dental effect, it can also have a positive effect. For example the frequent consumption of unsweetened green tea can act as a potent anti-bacterial elixir to reduce the risk of infection in the mouth. Foods rich in Vitamin C and significant supplementation of the same can increase the the strength of collagen throughout the body - a substance found in abundance within teeth and in gums. In fact careful supplementation of micro-nutrients can have an amazing effect on oral health. CoQ10, popular for heart health has been scientifically proven to reduce the risk of periodontal disease!

The relationship of nutrition and dental health is important and perhaps complex but there are simple steps we can all take to insure optimal health so that we will not need dentures in old age!

Have A Better Life With Healthy Nutrition
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_Lastun]Michael Lastun

Nutrition means the total physiological process whereby the body / organisms obtain the food necessary for the development and growth to secure the energy to carry on.

Nutrition means: the vital process, reconstruction of the tissues(food, supplies;). The words came from latin(nutritio), french(nutrition). The nutrition is important for all inhabitants of the planet because without the sustenance the body stops growing, gets weak and finally dies. A correct nutrition means a healthy body and also an optimistic point of view on life and not only. As the latin saying tells: ”mens sana in corpore sano”-a healthy mind in a healthy body. If the body is not happy our mind is not thinking very clear and tends to become more and more stressed and finally it creates a twisted imagine on ourselves. The nutrition is our fuel which activates the mechanism of our body. Nowadays it is important to have a well-balanced way of life and get rid of the food which damages our body and replace it with a healthy food.

The American Dietetic Association(ADA) is the nation's largest organization of nutrition professionals. It has nearly 65,000 members. ADA promotes a healthy nutrition and gives advises to those who want to change their way of life. The members of ADA are food and nutrition experts and they transpose the theories in practical solution.

In the last 30 years the nutrition has become a problem especially from the moment the rough-wrought and junk-food appeared on the market. The incorrect nutrition draws after it an unbalanced life. One of the century’s problem is the obesity which embraces like a scourge the entire world. Because of the sedentary life and the lack of moving the body deposes the surplus of calories as fats. The fats affect all the internals and cause health problems like: heart failure, blood circulation, rough breathing, and all kind of pains.

All the experts recommend a nutrition based on fruits, vegetables, and an active style of living.

Finding a Nutrition Course Online
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dave_Saunders]Dave Saunders

With more and more people dealing with chronic illnesses, individuals are looking to learn about nutrition and really understand the principals behind how to care for each and every cell of the body through proper nutrition. The pursuit of education about nutrition is made confusing with the publication of sensationalized books on miracle cures and fad diets which have little basis in science and quickly show themselves to do more harm than good. As many schools do not have open courses on nutrition, finding a nutrition course online has become the best source of education for people wishing to learn more about health and nutrition.

When looking for a nutrition course online, first seek out the approach of the school. What is their curriculum? What is the approach of their teaching? Do you get materials to review on your own or is all of the information exclusively available online? When you complete the course, what sort of degree do you receive and is it accredited? If you are learning about nutrition for your own application an online nutrition course that is not accredited may not be a concern to you, but what if you decide to make a new career with the application of your knowledge? Finding a nutrition course online, from an accredited school, could be a very important issue.

The next factor to consider for your nutrition course online is, when the classes are held and how long you have to complete the program. If you have a busy schedule it may be difficult to schedule regular online lectures if they are held live. Being able to watch archive lectures or watching DVDs allows you to work the class work into your personal schedule.

Learning about nutrition can be a very rewarding experience and is something from which you can truly benefit. But keep in mind that nutrition is the study of the science of providing nourishment to the body and is more complex than a simple series of eating guidelines. When you take a nutrition course online, expect to learn a lot and expect it to be a challenging, but very rewarding experience.

Nutrition and pregnancy are two different words that go hand in hand. As pregnancy differs from one woman to the other so as the diet intake is in the sense that one woman's meet is another woman's poison.

In definition, nutrition and pregnancy is the nutrient intake and dietary plan that you as a woman took before, during and after pregnancy as we all know that all dietary advice relating to pregnancy and nutrition is one of the major factors in determining the future well-being of the conceived child. Though some factors of diet or nutrient are noted to reduce childhood mortality due to helping the supply of nutrients to the mother.

The history have it that women who consume minimal amount of nutrient during pregnancy over the eight week period has a higher disorder rate concerning their offspring than women who ate regularly. In pregnancy, ill-nutrition did not only have physical disorder linked to it before and after pregnancy, also handicap are a risk that is run by mothers who are mal-nourished or have little nutrition.
